A family in Springfield, Massachusetts, was devastated by a horrific shooting that claimed the lives of a 10-year-old girl, her grandmother, and their dog. The shooter was their neighbor, who was on a cocaine binge and became paranoid.
The incident happened on Monday afternoon, when Victor Nieves, 34, forced his way into the first floor apartment of Kim Fairbanks, 52, and opened fire at random. Fairbanks was killed instantly by a bullet to the head, while her granddaughter Aubrianna Lynn was shot in the chest and died in the hospital on Thursday. Another granddaughter, 12, was wounded in the abdomen but survived. A grandson, 5, escaped unharmed.
America is still adamant on its 2nd amendment that gives rights to bear arms. Gun violence is nothing new to them. As long as they are doing them. The rest, everyone has witnessed. Drugs are not new either. Even though there are laws against it, the US offers itself as a big drug market. Their entertainment industry makes it seem cool. If in doubt, watch any recent teen show or movie from the US.
The police are investigating the motive and the source of the gun. The family’s mother expressed her grief and disbelief on Facebook.
