An Indian origin motel owner in Ohio has been arrested after a woman was allegedly held against her will at his property. The incident took place in Springfield Township. The case has drawn attention due to the serious nature of the allegations.

Dipak Kumar Patel, 64, was taken into custody by local police. Authorities clarified that he is not accused of holding the woman captive. However, he allegedly withheld crucial information and tampered with motel records.

Police said they received a tip on February 3 about a woman who was reportedly in danger. The information suggested she was not free to leave the motel. Officers immediately began investigating the matter.

The woman was later located on the property. A man staying at the motel was arrested, as he had an active warrant against him. Officials stated that the initial response was delayed due to missing and altered records.

Investigators claim that when officers first visited on February 3, key details were not shared. Records at the motel were allegedly modified. This, according to police, slowed down the rescue operation.

The Springfield Township Police Department said it had responded to multiple incidents at the same property earlier. Patel has been charged with obstructing official business and tampering with records. These charges relate to the alleged delay in the investigation.

Bodycam footage released by police shows Patel being informed about the charges. He is seen saying he was unaware of what was happening and claimed some details slipped from his memory. He has been lodged at Summit County Jail.

Authorities have indicated that the investigation is ongoing. More details are expected as the case progresses. The development has raised concerns about compliance and accountability in such establishments.
