US President Donald Trump has done it again. Though he talks of India being its ally, he hasn’t stopped from ensuring that Indians don’t get jobs in the US.
On Wednesday (US time), the President asked Google and Microsoft to freeze hiring of Indians. Donald Trump was speaking at the AI Summit in Washington.
Trump said that the American companies must focus on giving jobs to Americans and stop looking at hiring internationally. He said giant tech companies must come out of their global mindset.
Americans are feeling forgotten, he told the companies, hinting at an intake freeze soon. Trump expressed his anger saying big companies were established using the freedom given in the US. But they were investing and developing other countries instead of investing in the US.
Trump said the American companies were setting up facilities in China, creating jobs in India and raking profits in Ireland. Trump went on to say that the US must lead in AI. He told the companies to work towards that end and prove their patriotism.
Technology companies must work for the US. We must ensure the US leads in all fields. Technology companies must be world leaders. At the Summit, Trump signed three executive orders regarding AI.
But Trump’s latest directives have shocked Indians, as Google and Microsoft hire Indian techies extensively.
