Green Card Nightmare: USCIS Blunders, No Answers

Green Card Nightmare

A person who moved from F1 to H1B and married a Green Card holder in December 2022 is now facing the nightmare of USCIS delays. He got his EAD and travel permit in January 2024 but after that nothing has changed.

The Green Card aspirant claims his I-485 has been “under review” since June 2024. In March 2025, he got an email saying “an action was taken” but no new update appeared.

It seemed a resolution was near but the USCIS portal betrayed him once again. The case status first said it would be done in one week which was suddenly changed to five months the next time the user logged in.

What is even more troublesome is that even USCIS agents seem just as clueless as the H-1B holder. One said the interview was waived, another said nothing has been waived—no one can bring relief to the applicant’s anxiety.

Many others are in the same boat. The system gives no clear timeline, and the updates don’t make sense as the estimated time is never accurate.

For people trying to build a life in the US, this confusion is painful. USCIS needs to fix this and give clear answers to the applicants.
