Visa Timing Chaos: Confusing Emails Hit Indian H-1Bs

H-1B interview reschedule email confusion

Many Indian H-1B applicants are dealing with confusion after receiving multiple interview reschedule emails within a single day. These emails mention changes in interview timings, while the interview dates remain the same, leaving applicants uncertain about which slot to follow.

The Chennai consulate appears to be the most affected by this issue. A large number of applicants there have reported repeated notifications, mostly shifting late morning interview slots to as early as 8 am within a short span of time.

What has added to the confusion is that the interview dates have not changed at all. Because of this, experts believe the repeated emails may be the result of a technical or system glitch rather than an intentional rescheduling exercise.

In one case, an H-4 applicant attended the interview at the originally scheduled time despite receiving reschedule emails and was able to complete the process without any issue. This has further raised doubts about the accuracy of the automated notifications.

The official scheduling portal does not always reflect these sudden timing changes. Due to this mismatch, experts are advising applicants to reach the consulate early, preferably before 8 am, to avoid entry issues during peak hours.

Applicants are also being urged to regularly monitor their registered email address and the official portal. Carrying a printed copy of the latest appointment confirmation is recommended to avoid problems at the consulate entrance.
