A disturbing criminal case has emerged from California following a late-night cab ride. An Indian-origin driver has been arrested after being accused of sexually assaulting a young woman during the journey.
Incident Allegedly Occurred After Late-Night Pickup
According to investigators, the incident took place on the night of November 27, 2025. The woman was reportedly picked up around 1 am from outside a bar in Thousand Oaks. She was said to be intoxicated at the time.
Victim Reportedly Lost Consciousness During Ride
Authorities state that the 21-year-old woman fell unconscious while travelling to Camarillo. Investigators allege that instead of ending the trip, the driver continued driving around with the victim still in the vehicle.
Serious Allegations Against the Driver
The accused has been identified as Simranjit Singh Sekhon, a 35-year-old Indian-origin man. Police claim the sexual assault occurred while the woman was unconscious and unable to resist.
Arrest and Legal Proceedings
After the victim reported the incident, Ventura County authorities launched an investigation. Sekhon was arrested on December 15 and formally charged. He has pleaded not guilty to the allegations.
Case Treated as Aggravated Sexual Assault
Officials say the case is being handled as aggravated sexual assault. Prosecutors have stated that the victim was “particularly vulnerable” at the time of the alleged crime. Sekhon’s bail has been set at $500,000.
Police Fear More Victims May Exist
Law enforcement has raised concerns that there could be additional victims. Police are urging anyone with similar experiences involving the accused to come forward and contact authorities.
