Reports are coming that a 33-year-old Indian-origin psychiatrist has been jailed for six years. He is proven guilty of helping to run a dark website regarding sexual abuse of children.
Dr. Kabir Garg is a South-east London-based practitioner and has been identified as one of the operators of “The Annex” website by the National Crime Agency (NCA). The website has more than 90 thousand members.
Garg was sentenced on June 23 at Woolwich Crown Court. He pleaded guilty in January to 8 charges including sexual exploitation of children.
Garg was arrested by NCA in his flat in Lewisham, last November. At that time he was logged into the moderator account of the website. It was followed by further investigation and later discovered that the website was run like a company and had 30 administrators who supervised the smooth running of the website.
Garg’s responsibility was to enforce the rules of the website and to remove members who didn’t obey them. Additionally, he also shared links to child abuse materials, urged other users to spread them, and offered tips on how to avoid law enforcement.
NCA also found out that Garg was initially a member but gained the trust and became the moderator.
Over 7000 images and videos surrounding Child abuse have been received along with messages from his laptop.
The FBI arrested five more men who were involved in running the website and one was even sentenced to 28 years in prison.
