It rarely happens that a medical condition saves you from a harsh punishment. This Indian origin radiologist is making a case for him based on his mental health as he faces charges of attempted murder of his family. The man drove off a tall cliff driving his Tesla with his whole family inside in the year 2023.
It was a complete miracle that the whole family survived the accident but he was framed for felony counts of attempted murder of his family members. His kids who were only 7 and 4 at the time of the incident were also inside the car.
The accused has claimed that he was experiencing psychosis during the accident and having hallucinations. The lawyers claimed that he heard footsteps and thought that his children were being sex trafficked. This forced him to drive the car off the cliff.
The claims have been testified by two doctors and the accused is seeking mental health diversion in the case. Doctors said that he suffered from major depressive disorder and this resulted in his episode of psychosis.
A total of 18 tests were conducted by doctors before coming to the conclusion. It is now in the hands of the court to decide over the situation.
