In a shocking incident in Sydney’s western suburb of Merrylands, an Indian student fell victim to a group of Khalistan supporters armed with iron rods. The 23-year-old student, who remains anonymous for safety reasons, was targeted for daring to speak out against the extremist activities of the Khalistani movement.
As the student was heading to work at 5:30 am, he found himself ambushed by 4-5 assailants chanting “Khalistan Zindabad.” The attackers, appearing out of nowhere, struck him with an iron rod below his left eye, leaving him with severe injuries. They dragged him out of his vehicle and continued the brutal assault, even filming the incident.
Within a span of five minutes, the attackers made their point clear: opposing Khalistan was not to be taken lightly. The victim recounted their ominous warning that more “lessons” awaited him if he persisted in his opposition to their cause.
The New South Wales (NSW) Police were promptly informed of the incident and quickly transported the injured student to the hospital. The assault had left him with significant injuries to his head, leg, and arm.
The Merrylands Member of Parliament condemned the attack, emphasizing that extremism and violence have no place in the local community. Authorities have been alerted, and the situation is being closely monitored.
This incident follows previous clashes between Khalistani activists and pro-India demonstrators in Melbourne earlier this year. Concerns have been raised about the escalating anti-India activities of Khalistani separatists, as well as the frequent attacks on Hindu temples. The Indian government has urged Australian authorities to take action against these disturbing developments.
Amidst these troubling events, the External Affairs Ministry spokesperson in New Delhi stressed the importance of not providing a platform for individuals advocating violence and terrorism under the guise of freedom of expression. This statement comes in the wake of a rise in anti-India activities by Khalistani groups in various countries.
