Joe Biden, the President of the United States, offered a bumper offer for students, announcing a $39 billion debt relief program that will wipe away the debt of 804,000 student borrowers.
Following this news, inquiries have emerged among Indian MS students, wondering if they would be eligible to clear their loans borrowed from Indian banks for their Masters in the U.S.
However, to their disappointment, Biden’s announcement only applies to American citizens, not international students.
The U.S. desires more students to come to their country as they are crucial for funding universities, which often struggle with insufficient funds. India, China, and Korea contribute the most in terms of funding, making them vital to the universities.
Indian students are inquiring about this matter due to the previous provision by the Trump administration, which provided free money even to H-1B visa holders during the COVID-19 pandemic.
