In a remarkable turn of events, the US student visa issuance saw an astounding 15% increase in the 2022 fiscal year, reaching a six-year high of over 411,000 visas.
This surge signifies a substantial recovery for the international education sector, driven by a decade-high growth rate outside of the pandemic.
However, despite this overall growth, the approval rates took a hit, dropping to just 65% in 2022.
The data highlights India as the frontrunner in this educational race, witnessing a remarkable 43% increase in student visas from FY2021 to FY2022.
With over 115,000 Indian students obtaining F-1 visas, India now holds the potential to surpass China as the leading source country for international students in the US.
Contrastingly, China’s F-1 visas issued plummeted by more than 35% in 2022, leaving the two prominent Asian markets on divergent paths.
While the US experiences a resurgence in international student enrollment, the rise in Indian students emerges as the greatest success story, with Indians emerging as the biggest beneficiaries of the growth in US student visas.
