3-Month OPT Nightmare: F1 Student’s Amazon Job at Risk

F1 student OPT delay issue

An F-1 student’s Amazon dreams are now colliding with USCIS delays as fears grow over losing a major US job opportunity before even the work starts.

An international student in the US recently claimed their OPT application has been pending since February 27. The student said several friends who applied on the same date, and even a few days later, already received approvals last week, while others remain stuck with no updates for three months.

The user claimed they avoided premium processing earlier because regular approvals appeared to be moving. But now, growing reports of delays even in premium processing queues have reportedly created fresh panic among F-1 students waiting for work authorization.

The biggest worry is timing. The student said they are supposed to join Amazon on June 15, but still do not have the Employment Authorization Document needed to legally begin work in the US.

The post reflects a larger anxiety spreading among international students this year. Many F-1 students are closely tracking USCIS processing timelines daily as unpredictable EAD approvals continue affecting job offers.

For Indian students, especially, such delays can become financially and emotionally exhausting. Many spend years chasing US degrees and internships, only to find their first full-time opportunity hanging in the balance of a government approval that may arrive too late.
