The 26-year-old Indian student who was shot on the Western Hills Viaduct, Ohio, US, Thursday morning has succumbed to his injuries and passed away.

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine mourns the tragic loss of Aaditya R. Adlakha, a 26-year-old Indian doctoral candidate found shot inside his car on the Western Hills Viaduct on November 9.

The incident occurred around 6:20 AM, with 12 bullets fired, striking Aaditya’s vehicle multiple times. Discovered by Cincinnati Police, he was transported to UC Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries on November 11.

Aaditya, a fourth-year doctoral student, worked at Cincinnati Children’s and was dedicated to researching neuroimmune communication in ulcerative colitis.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. Cincinnati police seek information and the community grapples with the loss of a promising researcher and friend.
