America has been trying to find a solution to the pervading gun violence in the country for a long time now. It is rather disappointing to see how it fails to understand one basic reason behind this that the country has more firearms than its entire population. Florida police arrested a 16 year old teenager who opened fire on a large group of people injuring more than 10 individuals.
The incident occurred on Sunday morning at a private party in the city of Sanford. According to the police, a verbal altercation took place and the teenager started shooting at the crowd. The police arrested the suspect soon after the shooting by the patrol team.
It is shocking to see how easily someone as young as 16 is carrying guns in the USA. The land of freedom allows no protests but carrying a lethal weapon which results in huge loss of life every year in perfectly legal.
Ever since the covid, the number of firearms per capita has increased significantly. This has also resulted in more number of deaths in mass shootings. The US method of allowing citizens to carry weapon for their own safety has clearly failed and it is a good example for others to understand what could go wrong with such a measure.
