A lightning strike at the San Jacinto Monument in La Porte, Texas, US, critically injured Susroonya Koduru, a 25-year-old Telugu student from India who is pursuing her dreams in the United States.
Susroonya suffered a critical injury when lightning struck her while she was strolling by a pond in the park. Following the lightning strike, Susroonya somehow wound up in a pond. A bystander jumped in and helped her out. First responders arrived and performed CPR to revive her. Susroonya experienced cardiac arrest for 20 minutes, resulting in severe brain damage and a coma.
Susroonya currently requires ventilator support and a feeding tube. MRI reports show signs of anoxic encephalopathy, a condition caused by prolonged oxygen deprivation to the brain.
Susroonya’s parents, facing financial constraints, seek to be with their daughter during this difficult time. Urgent efforts are underway to secure emergency visas, enabling her parents to join her in the US and provide crucial emotional support.
Susroonya, a promising student pursuing her Master’s degree, had dreams of success in the Information Technology field. The community and well-wishers have started a fundraiser to provide financial assistance, with the ultimate goal of transporting Susroonya back to India for long-term care and rehabilitation.
