A UK-based Telugu, 50-year-old Raghu Singamaneni, has been charged on multiple accounts of rape and attempt to rape. Singamaneni was from Luton and was found guilty of raping and sexually assaulting four women at Wood Green Crown Court.
The first victim was a 17-year-old who met up for a job when he called to come the next day. Then he offered her prosecco, an Italian wine, and when she was intoxicated, he tried to assault her sexually and rape her.
Singmaneni ran two parlors in Islington and Wood Green. Later, he assaulted a 19-year-old at a massage parlor on High Road, North London. SIngamaneni asked her for a massage and insisted she drinks vodka, following which he raped her.
He also raped a 23-year-old after meeting her at a hotel in Golden Green for a fake job interview. When in the room, he forcibly removed her clothes and raped her. Another 17-year-old fell victim to him after she applied for a job as a masseur.
However, it has been found that Singamaneni was a serial offender, though he strongly believed that due to his position, those raped or assaulted would not publicly complain against him. However, the four girls came forward and gave their versions.
Singamaneni was convicted of three counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of attempted rape.
