US Hospital Racism Indian Doctors Humiliated

Racism continues to haunt the Indian community in the US no matter your status in the society. Recently, three Indian-origin doctors reported the discrimination they faced from the Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) and three other groups.

Dr. Kapil Pareek, Dr. Jyoti Manekar, and Dr. Anisha Patel have filed a lawsuit against four American medical groups. They allege that their fitness for duty was challenged, and their practice was deliberately undermined because of their Indian heritage.

They further claim that even after complaining about the discriminatory behavior they faced retaliation. The court records suggest they were transferred from NGHS to Northside Hospital and Georgia Urology where they faced similar treatment.

The Indian community has an immense contribution to the STEM fields in the US but they still face racial discrimination at the workplace. In the current political climate, such cases of hate towards immigrant communities have been growing rapidly.

Meanwhile, NGHS also stated in response to the lawsuit through their attorney, “Given this is active litigation, we are not in a position to comment and look forward to contesting the claims in court:

Georgia’s Medical group further claimed that it values the diversity of its employees and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, or sex.

The 3 Indian-American doctors filed the case on January 28 and further details are awaited.
