Akshay’s OTT Clash with Aamir Khan: Who’s Right?

Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan debate OTT release gap

The film industry is debating the gap between theatrical and OTT releases. Aamir Khan supports a longer window, while Akshay Kumar believes shorter is better.

Aamir Khan wants at least six months before a film reaches digital platforms, saying an early release weakens theatres. He urged filmmakers to protect the theatrical audience.

Akshay Kumar disagreed. He said a three-month gap is enough, since OTT platforms pay huge sums for digital rights and must benefit from the deal. He added that poor film choices, not OTT, are hurting box office collections.

Currently, most films follow a two-month OTT model. With both veterans presenting strong arguments, the industry must now decide whether to extend or maintain the existing gap.
