The period drama film Chhaava, featuring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, has been a thumping success after its theatrical run on February 14, 2025. Having collected more than ₹350 crore worldwide, the film remains strong at the box office, reflecting the huge interest of viewers in historical epics.

With its continued success at the box office, digital release of Chhaava is scheduled for April 11, 2025, on Netflix, two months from its initial theatrical release. However, official confirmation is yet to come.
This choice brings into question whether the producers would have been able to stretch its theatrical run. With the film’s consistent popularity, pushing back its OTT release by a few weeks could have optimized box office collections.

But Netflix’s rigid commitment to the conventional 8-week window probably stood in the way of such leeway. Moreover, the impending release of Rashmika Mandanna’s Sikandar, which may underperform at the box office, could have let Chhaava own theaters for a longer period.
The OTT release of the film will further increase its outreach among those who could not see it on the big screen or would like to see it again. Though this action will certainly improve availability, it will slightly lower theatre revenues since audiences will prefer viewing it at home.

Chhaava, however, still proves itself to be a sign of Bollywood’s prowess at creating engaging historical tales that are effective across mediums.
