Disney+ Hotstar Lazy Remakes

Streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar has decided to make an Indian adaptation of the cult-classic American medical drama series ‘House’, featuring actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead role.

This marks yet another point in time when Disney+ Hotstar has chosen to create adaptations of foreign shows rather than cooking up something of its own for the Indian audience.

The streaming platform had tried this method before by creating adaptations of ‘The Night Manager’, starring Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapoor, and Sobhita Dhulipala, as well as ‘Rudra’, featuring Ajay Devgn and Raashii Khanna.

While ‘The Night Manager’ was liked by many, making it a hit, Ajay Devgn’s ‘Rudra’ fell flat on its face, turning out to be a total flop.

This laziness, often leading to a lack of original homegrown creativity has led to many criticizing the platform. This has given a major blow to its image, with people poking fun at it online.

One user said, “At this rate, Disney+ Hotstar’s next original series will be an adaptation of ‘Friends’. Can’t wait to see who plays the Indian Joey!”

With comments like these floating around the internet, it will be interesting to see which way the dice rolls for Hotstar’s upcoming ‘House’ adaptation with Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
