A robbery case in Tamil Nadu is currently getting a lot of attention on social media. Notably, the victim was a female YouTuber who was robbed of her jewellery and money, all of which were valued at around Rs. 1 crore.
The identity of the woman was revealed as Madhumitha, who is married to a businessman named Vinod Kumar. Madhumitha was known for sharing clips on social media, where she used to display her wealth, including cash and jewellery at her home.
Madhumitha, her husband, and the other family members were not at home during the robbery. The robbers reportedly entered from the back side of the house and stole everything. A police complaint has also been filed. When the family returned home, they found that the cupboards where the items were kept were completely damaged.
While a lot of people sympathized with the YouTuber, others addressed the fact that this is a warning for those who earn a lot. Some even criticized Madhumitha after the incident, questioning the reasons behind displaying her wealth so openly on social media.
A majority even believes that Madhumitha’s habit of showing her wealth is the reason that led to this incident. People wrote on social media that Madhumitha was giving an open invitation to thieves and she should have kept everything related to her earnings private instead of revealing it on social media.
Netizens even requested other social media influencers to avoid doing what Madhumitha did. A few additionally requested the authorities to send a message from their side to the public, addressing what can go wrong if someone displays their earnings on social media.
The robbery incident has clearly raised a lot of red flags in terms of content that is posted online. Now it remains to be seen how many are willing to change their ways and how many will prefer to remain the same.
