Dupahiya Season 2 has arrived with another dose of rural chaos, and social media reactions are pouring in. While some viewers are enjoying the series as a delightful rural satire, others feel the humour frequently loses its way, making the follow-up a bumpy ride.
One social media review claimed that Nirahua’s presence could not save the sluggish storyline, while the comedy repeatedly went off track. Another described the performances of Gajraj Rao, Renuka Shahane and Bhuvan Arora as an “uneasy bumpy ride”.
However, reactions are far from unanimous. Several viewers have praised the show’s writing, performances and relatable humour. One viewer questioned the lack of promotional buzz around Dupahiya 2 and described it as a top-tier rural satire.
The viewer particularly praised the mobile tower subplot, which revolves around villagers opposing a 5G installation over rumours about its impact on men’s libido. Several others applauded the comic chemistry between Gajraj Rao and Sparsh Shrivastava and called the series simple and relatable.
Directed by Sonam Nair, the second season follows the Jha family as they face financial desperation, an examination paper leak racket and the village’s resistance to technological change. Dinesh Lal Yadav, popularly known as Nirahua, joins the ensemble cast.
The series also features Gajraj Rao, Shivani Raghuvanshi, Bhuvan Arora and Sparsh Shrivastava. The humour and narrative consistency have drawn mixed reactions, with viewers responding differently to the new conflicts and comic situations.
Overall, Dupahiya Season 2 appears to combine promising performances with engaging ideas as it tries to retain the comic spark that made its predecessor memorable. However, the divided reactions suggest its rural comedy formula may not work equally well for every viewer.
