Dupahiya is getting ready to bring Dhadakpur back to screens, and going by the response to its Season 2 trailer, the quirky village comedy seems to have retained the charm that made the first season connect with OTT audiences.
The second season premieres on Prime Video on October 1, with Gajraj Rao, Renuka Shahane, Sparsh Shrivastava, Bhuvan Arora, Shivani Raghuvanshi and Yashpal Sharma returning, while Dinesh Lal Yadav aka Nirahua joins the ensemble.
The trailer throws Dhadakpur into another bizarre mess. Banwari’s barren land is selected for a mobile tower, but instead of celebrating development, the villagers begin connecting the tower to everything from typhoid to tsunamis.
Meanwhile, Bhugol has become famous, although not quite for the reason anyone expected, while Roshni is racing against time to clear her SSC examination. Amavas, naturally, has his own shortcut to offer, and Inspector Mithlesh suspects there is a scam hiding beneath all the chaos.
What appears to be working in the trailer’s favour is that it does not abandon the show’s small-town humour and eccentric characters. Many are saying that its release will allow them to get a detox from other OTT content that mostly rely on violence and abusive language. Others are eagerly waiting to hear some witty dialogues from the OG cast who was a part of the first season.
In short, the official trailer has mostly generated positive chatter, but the real challenge will be turning that curiosity into another binge-worthy run. With Dhadakpur once again drowning in rumours, scams and pure desi chaos, October 1 will reveal whether Dupahiya can deliver another winning ride or whether Season 2 is simply more of the same.
