Netflix brings this Indonesian movie called “Fireworks.” originally titled as “Kembang Api” the film is based on a Japanese movie called “3ft Ball And Soul.”
It revolves around four individuals An old man, A much young guy, A women and a 15 yrs old girl who are not happy with their lives. They connect in a group chat called ‘Fireworks’ centered on suicide. The movie explores their decision to meet up and carry out a group suicide using a large firework bomb. But to their surprise they have failed the suicide attempt and now, the four characters in the movie find themselves trapped in a time loop, leading to unexpected and complicated situations.
Directed by Herwin Novianto this dark comedy predominantly unfolds in a confined setting, intensifying the urgency and raising doubts about the characters’ intentions. The film’s acting, resembling a live play, compensates for the lack of scenic beauty and remarkable cinematography. The actors deliver a decent performance considering the film’s limitations.
Although the film benefits from strong acting and a confined setting, more emphasis on dialogue and script could have enhanced its overall coherence. Still its a good watch. This movie is available on Netflix.
