Rakt Brahmand shelved

Raj & DK’s upcoming Netflix series Rakt Brahmand, featuring Aditya Roy Kapur and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, has been on hold since February this year. As per the latest update, the show is not expected to go on floors so soon.

Insiders close to the show claimed that the series might be called off due to financial issues. Sources have said that the show has been put on hold by Netflix due to budgetary constraints with the newly appointed executive producer of the platform.

The source mentioned that Netflix has already spoken to Raj & DK, stating that they have checked the existing budget and the actual costs needed to continue with the show. The figures did not align, and Netflix is already dealing with the losses from the shoots that happened in the past.

Notably, the series needs to go for a reshoot, and Netflix is not ready to spend any more on something that is already a big risk for them.

Furthermore, the script is also reportedly going through rewrites, leading to a big change in everything that has been shot.

With a budget of almost Rs. 200 crores, it seems like Netflix will face more burden with the reshoot, which will need additional investment.

On the other hand, Raj & DK said in a statement to Peeping Moon that they are preparing for the outdoor schedule that will involve filming of the action scenes, and they are waiting for the rainfall to stop since they need lush greens to shoot the entire show.

Considering the above-mentioned updates, it seems like the wait for Rakt Brahmand will be longer than the expected time. Raj & DK are possibly aiming to make their show perfect, which could be one of the reasons why the show is going through rewrites.

But it is a step that should have been taken in the beginning when the show was being developed. Now, since the decision was taken so late, it seems like Rakt Brahmand might take a few more years. Let’s wait for more updates.
