The two giants in the entertainment industry who are responsible for most of the biggest franchises we cherish and love are now partnering together to provide an awesome deal for the OTT audience. This team-up of Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery will give a triple-play bundle of Disney+, Hulu, and Max. This amazing offer will be available in the US this summer.
The unpredictable duo has shared one of the biggest franchise rivalries. In most cases, they are each other’s direct competitors, be it the clash of superhero ventures (Marvel vs DC) or big-budget franchises like Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean and Warner Bros. Harry Potter.
The bundle will have a vast catalog of content including ABC, CNN, DC, Discovery, Disney, Food Network, FX, HBO, HGTV, Hulu, Marvel, Pixar, Searchlight, Warner Bros. and many more.
In the day and age of online entertainment subscription-based platforms are popping up, more than ever. Different sets of content from different production companies are available in separate platforms and the toll of this affects the pockets of daily consumers of entertainment.
This strategy by Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery is a master plan to increase the subscription rate and engagement by offering a plan comparatively cheaper than individual subscriptions with a wider range of content. Joe Earley, president of direct-to-consumer at Disney Entertainment says that this new partnership puts subscribers first. Though the platforms are well-known and successful, this new bundle might be the outcome of growing cancellation rates of users.
The only way to keep them hooked is through better offers and if this gets widely accepted then who knows one day we might live in a world where bundled subscriptions of OTT platforms are the norm.
