At 81 years of age Big B, is delivering mega performances on the big screen and making his fans across all age groups proud. Recently, Prabhas, the star of Kalki 2898 AD, stated that Amitabh Bachchan is the “first hero” of this movie and everyone can learn a lot from him.
But this does not seem to be the case with Ayan Mukherji’s Astral adventure Brahmastra. Here, Amitabh Bachchan shared the screen with leading stars like Ranbir, Alia and Shahrukh. Even when he was not in the lead role, fans expected his character Guru Arvind to have nuance and depth. This could be the effect of a badly cooked script that led to a very critical reception of the film. The grand fantasy theme and VFX couldn’t save the film from the complaints that viewers and critics had from this Dharma Production high-grossing film. We wanted Guru Arvind to be more than a “Google Baba” for Shiva.
In Kalki 2898 AD, fans are loving the role of Ashwatthama played by Big B, and all over the internet, the comparison between his role in the two films has created a buzz. Ashwatthama has a majestic avatar and is deeply rooted in the Indian mythology of Mahabharat. The immortal character has become a classic due to Big B’s commitment and versatility. Now we can only wonder how magical it would have been had Bachchan’s Guru Arvind been given the same respect!
