A digital showdown is set for October 31 as Kantara: Chapter 1 and Lokah: Chapter 1 Chandra gear up for their OTT premieres. Two of the year’s biggest grossers are about to clash online, creating major buzz among streaming audiences.
Lokah became a historic hit for the Malayalam film industry, grossing over 300 crores worldwide and marking the first Malayalam film to achieve this milestone.
Despite receiving widespread acclaim, Lokah faced some criticism from Hindi-speaking audiences for allegedly depicting anti-Hindu elements that hurt certain religious sentiments.
Even with the backlash, the film performed decently in the North and is expected to find a larger viewership on OTT, where it could enjoy renewed popularity.
Meanwhile, Rishab Shetty delivered the Kannada industry’s all-time second biggest hit with Kantara: Chapter 1.
Though not as impactful as the first installment, the film still managed to collect around 700 crores globally, becoming the biggest Indian grosser of the year.
Now, both Lokah and Kantara: Chapter 1 are heading for a digital face-off. Lokah will stream on JioHotstar, while Kantara: Chapter 1 will premiere on Prime Video from October 31.
It’s shaping up to be one of the biggest OTT clashes of the year, with audiences eagerly waiting to see which film dominates the streaming charts.
