Mirage OTT Talk: Unexpected from Drishyam Director

Mirage OTT reviews on Sony LIV

Jeethu Joseph’s Mirage started streaming on Sony LIV from October 19. Though it failed at the box office, audiences hoped it would deliver a gripping thriller, given that it came from the director of Drishyam. However, early OTT reviews reveal that Mirage has disappointed most viewers.

Many felt the film lacked the emotional intensity that made Drishyam unforgettable. While Drishyam revolved around the moral tension of protecting a loved one, Mirage builds its story around a hard disk making it feel detached and mechanical. One viewer commented, “It feels like watching an AI-generated thriller,” a statement that captures the general mood among OTT audiences.

The film’s performances also drew mixed reactions. Aparna Balamurali was appreciated for her effort but not considered at her best. Asif Ali and Hakim Shahjahan’s roles were seen as underwritten, and the supporting cast reportedly added little to the film’s impact.

Viewers criticised the unrealistic sequences and abrupt developments. The heroine’s sudden display of strength, miraculous escapes, and random character exits disrupted the flow. Many said the excessive twists made the movie tiring to watch.

Overall, OTT audiences felt Mirage had an interesting premise but failed to strike the right balance between emotion, suspense, and logic leaving viewers more frustrated than entertained.
