Back in the day, Amazon prime and Netflix used to go ahead to head when it comes to acquiring South Indian theatrical films. But in the current day market, it is Netflix, which is taking charge with multiple acquisitions.

Even in the case of today’s releases, it is heard that Netflix went all out and backed all three of the films that had released today.

Notably, Jack, Jaat, and Good Bad Ugly released in theatres today. While Jack is a Telugu comedy film, featuring Siddhu Jonnalagadda in the lead role, Jaat is a Hindi actioner featuring Sunny Dheol. Good Bad Ugly has Thala Ajith in the lead role.

Interestingly, enough, the post theatrical OTT streaming rights of all these three films are reportedly with Netflix. Two of them were produced by Mythri Movie Makers – Jaat and GBU.

Considering the recent trend, it needs to be said that Netflix is looking to completely dominate the South Indian cinema scene and that could be one of the principal reasons why they are going all over to when it comes to acquiring South film.

Almost every Telugu and Tamil big film is landing with Netflix now as it appears that Amazon is taking the backseat.

Recently, Netflix scored a OTT blockbuster in the form of Pushpa 2. Now they will be hoping that the latest theatrical releases today will also do the job for them after the OTT debut.
