
Netflix gave us a masterpiece in the form of a miniseries with Richard Gadd’s Baby Reindeer but the same show has brought trouble for the streaming giant. A woman who claims to be the real Martha depicted in the show has sued Netflix for defamation and other charges.
A Scottish woman has claimed that she was the inspiration behind the character of Martha in the series Baby Reindeer. She is suing Netflix for a mammoth $170 million because of her portrayal in the series.

The woman has accused Netflix of defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, gross negligence. The lawsuit was filed by her in a California federal court.
Baby Reindeer claims in its first episode that it is based on true story and the woman has alleged that it’s a lie to sell the show. The show portrayed her as a twice convicted stalker who was also imprisoned.

Baby Reindeer became a sensation all around the world and was trending soon after its release in almost all countries. This sparked an interest among some viewers to find out the real identity of Martha.
