Rohit Shetty made cool cop movies like Singham, Sooryavanshi, and Simmba with lots of action and fun. The stories showed cops as super strong, doing things their own way. Even though it wasn’t too realistic, the movies were masala entertainers, and people loved the main characters’ heroism. But now, Shetty’s new web series, “Indian Police Force,” on Prime Video, has spectacularly failed on all counts.
There was considerable anticipation for the series as an extension of Shetty’s Cop Universe.
Unfortunately, the show failed to meet even the usual Shetty’s standards, and Malhotra’s performance lacked the freshness expected. Despite the initial buzz, “Indian Police Force” turned out to be a crashing bore. It just turned out to be like the TV serial CID made on a bigger scale and budget.
On the other hand, Prime Video silently delivered a kickass web series like Dootha starring Naga Chaitanya.
There wasn’t much hype around the series before the release. But after its premiere, the positive word of mouth spread like wildfire. There was great appreciation for director Vikram Kumar’s story, screenplay, and execution. Naga Chaitanya also proved himself as an actor in a difficult role with grey shades.
In the case of ‘Indian Police Force,’ the saying holds true – “empty vessels make more noise.”
Despite the initial buzz and high viewership in the first two days, the web series faced a huge decline in audience interest due to negative reviews, causing them to avoid it like plague.
