The new trend in cinema is pan-India films and event films with unique settings and visuals. Among these, we have three releases from Telugu stars—Prabhas in two and one from NTR.

Salaar, Kalki 2898 AD, and Devara fall into the event films category, and all three made an impact theatrically.

However, the common trend is that all three films were trolled upon landing on OTT, mainly due to lackluster hero characterizations under the guise of world-building or over-the-top scenes.

Undoubtedly, Salaar has grown over time on OTT, and it has found a section of fans who repeatedly watch it in blocks. Prashanth Neel’s direction and the action sequences contributed to its appeal.

NTR’s Devara just landed on OTT and is getting trolled, much like Prabhas’ films. It also lacks repeat value based on the OTT response, but many viewers are still giving it a try because of the action blocks.

The weakest among the three in terms of OTT repeat value is Kalki 2898 AD. Hardly anyone has talked about or praised the film on OTT, with many simply skipping it.

In a nutshell, Salaar—though not perfect—has the best rewatch value on OTT. The last event film with true rewatch value was Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2.
