Amazon Prime Video’s Telugu web series Sivarapalli, released on January 24, 2025, quickly climbed into the platform’s top 10 rankings.
However, the series is not getting wholehearted appreciation as it is a scene-by-scene remake of the highly successful Hindi web series Panchayat.

Sivarapalli stars Raghu Mayur in the lead role of a government official stationed in a rural village who dreams of leaving his job and moving to America. Supported by performances from Muralidhar Gaur and Sunny Palle, the cast delivers natural and sincere portrayals.
Despite being an honest attempt having decent performances, the series struggles to connect fully with audiences, primarily because Panchayat has already been widely watched, even in South India.

Raghu Mayur, who plays the lead in Sivarapalli, delivers a competent performance, but comparisons with Jitendra Kumar’s portrayal of Abhishek Tripathi, aka Jeetu Bhaiya, are inevitable.
Jeetu Bhaiya brought a unique vibe and effortless charm to the character in Panchayat, which remains unmatched.

Similarly, iconic performances by Raghubir Yadav as Pradhanji, Neena Gupta as Manju Devi, Faisal Malik as Prahlad, and Durgesh Kumar as Bhushan (Banrakas) elevated the original series to a league of its own.
In Sivarapalli, while the characters are decently portrayed, they fail to replicate the depth and natural chemistry that made the original ensemble so memorable.
The remake’s performances lack the freshness and unique dynamics that resonated deeply with viewers of Panchayat.
For many fans, the original performances have become etched in memory, making it challenging to accept new actors in those beloved roles. This has become the biggest hurdle for Sivarapalli to make any impact.
