Kannada cinema is celebrating another big milestone. The latest film Su From So has entered the elite ₹100 crore club, proving the growing strength of Kannada movies in recent years.
The movie grossed ₹101 crore across India, making it the fourth Kannada film to cross this benchmark. Its strong box office run shows the increasing popularity of regional cinema.
In its opening week, Su From So earned ₹21.5 crore. The second week brought in ₹30.75 crore, followed by ₹25.25 crore in the third, ₹12.25 crore in the fourth, and ₹8.5 crore in the fifth. Even in its sixth week, the film collected ₹2.75 crore.
Karnataka alone contributed ₹88 crore, highlighting the film’s dominance in its home state. This outstanding response made it one of the biggest Kannada blockbusters of the year.
Despite this success, the makers have announced its OTT release on JioHotstar from September 5. Many believe this move came too early, as the film still had earning potential in theatres.
Fans and film experts expressed disappointment. They feel this decision may disrupt the momentum of Kannada cinema, which is currently experiencing a strong wave of success. While OTT release will expand the audience, the timing feels rushed.
