The Kannada blockbuster Su From So recently premiered digitally on JioHotstar in Kannada, Telugu, and Malayalam. Tamil audiences expressed disappointment, as the film is not available in Tamil. A remake in Tamil is reportedly in the works.
Praised as a hilarious horror-comedy, the JP Thuminad directorial impressed viewers with its fun moments, satirical humor, and meaningful message. The performances of Shaneel Gautham, Raj Shetty, Sandhya Arakere, and Prakash Thuminad received special appreciation.
However, not all audiences were satisfied. Some OTT viewers felt the film was overhyped and overrated. A few even called it “a scam from the Kannada industry,” describing it as bizarre and humorless. Its 100-crore box office success sparked more social media trolling.
Fans argue that Su From So is meant for the theater experience. Shared laughter and audience energy in cinemas added to the entertainment, an element missing when viewed on OTT platforms.
Despite mixed reviews online, the film remains a landmark in Kannada cinema. Its success was driven by word of mouth and genuine humor, not just hype. While it may not appeal to everyone, local audiences who connected with its flavor and comedy found it truly entertaining.
Not saying it’s overrated or scam of the year, but the movie just wasn’t for me. Some jokes worked, but most didn’t land.
Still okay for a one-time watch.

#SuFromSo It is unbearable, bizarre & humorless It might be relatable to coastal audience but definitely not enjoyable There is no plot in the 1st half If people insist that u should have a good mood/ it is enjoyable as community viewing it is drawback of the film
