Siddharth, Nayanthara, and Madhavan’s long-delayed film Test, directed by S. Sashikanth, is set to release soon directly on Netflix.
According to reports, Netflix will officially announce the film’s direct OTT release on February 3.
Despite featuring popular South Indian actors like Siddharth, Nayanthara, and Madhavan, the film has generated little buzz, and the team has failed to build hype among audiences.
A direct OTT release for a notable film is rare in the post-COVID era, as most movies, including medium-budget ones, have opted for theatrical releases first. Strong speculation suggests that Test was initially planned for a theatrical run but was shelved due to financial constraints, leading the team to opt for a Netflix release.
Moreover, Siddharth and Nayanthara’s recent films have struggled at the box office, ending up as disasters. It remains to be seen whether Test can break the trend and become a blockbuster on Netflix, helping them regain their lost form.
