Amazon approached the team behind “The Boys” about doing product placement in the series where a product can be digitally switched depending on who the person is watching it.

On the episode when Deep and other Vought representatives announced a new feature for Vought, a product that could change based on your demographic, including “race”, such as an IPA being switched out for cognac.

We have to pay keen attention that firstly the boys was a very famous comic and secondly in the team of 7 we now have two members who are black one is “A – Train” and the other one is “Sister Sage”.

Changing their race and IPA, won’t be a nice decision for the viewership, as black people won’t like the fact about their race being changed.

Kripke tweeted on X, “Y’know, custom digital product placement is a real thing, you guys,” he wrote. “Amazon pitched it to us for #TheBoys, we said no thanks, but we’re definitely making a joke about it in Season 4. Then we did.”

And also attached the 2023 article from Marketing Brew about the limitations that currently exist in terms of virtual product placement.

The goal is to make it easier to place products in shows and movies. Instead of traditional product placement, but not by hurting one’s origin.

The reason behind this virtual deal is that brands get involved in pre-production for what could be years before a show debuts, this technology allows brands and products to be added into a show after it’s already begun to air.

But well boys made a funny joke afterall.
