Several OTT platforms, including JioHotstar and Amazon Prime Video, are facing backlash from users who are upset not only about the constant advertisements interrupting their viewing but also about the kind of ads being shown.
Many viewers have taken to social media to complain that condom ads are frequently appearing during family viewing sessions, creating discomfort in households.
One viewer shared that while watching the series Bakaiti on Zee5 with his children, the stream was repeatedly interrupted by condom advertisements, despite the show being rated 13+. This raised questions about how such ads were being placed without considering the audience.
Another user remarked that these ads should not be displayed on every show or movie, regardless of its rating, especially when children might be watching.
Parents argue that seeing such content during shows rated 7+ or 13+ could have an inappropriate influence on young viewers. The issue has sparked concern among many families, and it remains to be seen whether OTT platforms will address these complaints or continue with their current ad placements.
@ZEE5India Hi team zee5 , I was watching web series #bakaiti sitting in my living room around 8.40pm and suddenly an Adult ad of Durex jumps in between, do children are forced to watch such Ad around 8.30 pm while this series is an 13+ only. In this era of AI can we do something.
