Weekend OTT Movies and shows

Once again, the weekend is here, giving us the perfect excuse to switch off from work and switch on to some quality entertainment. This week may seem a little quiet, but there are still some exciting thrillers and heartwarming films waiting for you.

The biggest highlights for this weekend are “Wednesday Season 2,” the intense “28 Years Later,” and the critically praised “Sister Midnight.” These titles are sure to keep you engaged on your day off.

We have carefully picked some of the best movies and shows available across various languages and platforms. Alongside the must-watch titles, there are a few more options that can still make for a decent watch at home.

If you love paranormal tales, “Wednesday Season 2 Part 1” on Netflix is a treat. Tim Burton and Jenna Ortega return with twists that audiences are loving. For those who enjoy post-apocalyptic dramas, “28 Years Later” on Book My Show offers a chilling zombie experience that many have been waiting for.

Tamil movie lovers should check out “Parandhu Po” on JioHotstar. This drama explores the evolving relationship between a father and son, showing how they grow through adversity. Science fiction fans will find “Mickey 17,” also on JioHotstar, quite intriguing as it tells the story of a man replaced by his clone.

On Prime Video, the Kannada drama “Photo” is a deeply emotional story about a father and son’s journey during the pandemic lockdown. It captures the struggles and sentiments of those times beautifully.

In the satisfactory category, Telugu film “Badamashulu” on Prime Video offers comic chaos with two mischievous friends stirring trouble in a village. “Diamonds,” an Italian drama, takes a unique cinematic approach by focusing on women in a costume-filled workplace. Bengali drama “Onko Ki Kothin” on Hoichoi follows three slum kids dreaming of a better future but facing tough challenges.

Hindi film “Sister Midnight” on Prime Video dives into a dark arranged marriage story set in Mumbai, where the wife transforms into a fierce figure within the marriage. Meanwhile, “To Die Alone,” an English thriller on Prime Video, shows a hiker struggling to survive and face her inner fears.

In the passable list, “Arabia Kadali,” a Telugu drama on Prime Video, tells the story of fishermen imprisoned in a foreign jail after entering international waters. Lionsgate Play’s “BMF Season 4” follows the gritty drama of a crime business with power struggles. The Telugu historical series “Maya Sabha” on Sony LIV explores politics in Andhra Pradesh from the 1970s to 1990s.

Romance fans may like “Materialists” on Prime Video, where a New York matchmaker is torn between a perfect match and her imperfect ex. Sci-fi thriller “M3gan 2.0” on Apple TV+ continues the story of an AI gone rogue and its creator’s fight for control.

Some titles are better avoided this weekend. The Hindi sci-fi thriller “Baida” on Prime Video and the English drama “Finding Nina” also on Prime are not very engaging. French film “Near Orouët” on Mubi and the English thriller “Pretty Thing” on Lionsgate Play both fall short of expectations. The Hindi thriller TV show “Salakaar” on JioHotstar offers a spy story but lacks the thrill.

Finally, some shows and movies are better skipped altogether. The Hindi comedy series “Bindiya Ke Bahubali” on MX Player, Malayalam drama “Momo Deal” on YouTube, Punjabi crime comedy “Hanji Kaun?” on Chaupal, English action movie “Love Hurts” on JioHotstar, and the crime movie “The Pick Up” on Prime Video do not make for worthwhile weekend viewing.

That wraps up this weekend’s OTT rundown. Pick your favourites and enjoy your streaming time.
