Zendaya’s new film was sensational enough. Now it is getting traction yet again, but for a rather peculiar reason. The movie is now available to rent and purchase on Google TV and YouTube. However, the pricing for the movie seems a bit absurd. The movie costs a whopping 950 rupees to buy. Quite high for the Indian audience. For a movie that is practically a sports drama, to think that the audience would pay nearly a thousand might be a derailing thought.
Directed by Luca Guadagnino, Challengers sees the character of Tashi, a tennis prodigy, trying to turn her husband into a tennis star, but now her husband sees himself going against a very problematic hallenger in the form of Tashi’s ex-boyfriend and his ex-best friend. A shared history woven into the backdrop of a sport like tennis makes up for a very interesting plot.
However, there is no reason a person should pay a thousand rupees for watching this movie. Even keeping the pricing this high feels like too much of a cash grab for the corporations. To place the price that high when it has had a good reception.
