Reports suggest that Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is set to play entrepreneur Ashneer Grover in an upcoming biopic. The film will be directed by Rahul Mody, known for writing Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety.
Shraddha Kapoor is reportedly cast as Ashneer’s wife, Madhuri Jain Grover. The film is expected to focus on the rise of BharatPe and the controversies that followed in 2022.
However, industry experts feel Aamir Khan may have chosen the wrong project again. They believe Ashneer Grover may not be as widely popular as expected to attract large theatre audiences.
Ashneer became known through Shark Tank India. Still, critics say his life story may not have enough commercial appeal. There is also debate about Shraddha Kapoor’s casting due to the age gap with Aamir Khan.
Experts also point out that success in business does not always translate into a strong film story. Many well-known personalities exist, but only a few have journeys suited for cinema.
They also highlight that audiences today prefer OTT platforms for such content. Viewers are less likely to visit theatres for biopics that lack strong entertainment value.
Another concern is Aamir Khan’s growing focus on biopics. Some feel he is choosing safer roles instead of taking risks with commercial entertainers.
Fans want to see him return to full-fledged commercial roles. If he wants to maintain his superstar image, exploring fresh and engaging subjects could be important.
