The news of Aamir Khan and Gauri Spratt’s third marriage was met with a positive response from a lot of people, who sent their best wishes. However, the superstar has now also landed himself in trouble for his decision.
A new update has revealed that a fatwa has been issued against Aamir by a cleric, expressing objection against interfaith marriage on religious grounds. Maulana Ibrahim, the Shahi Chief Mufti of the Muslim Personal Darul Ifta, said that Aamir’s marriage was not acceptable based on Sharia since Gauri is not a Muslim.
A video of the cleric has also gone viral, as he claimed that Muslims who tie the knot with a non-Muslim are committing a sin and that such marriages are not acceptable under Islamic law. He stated that since Aamir has tied the knot for the third time, they have witnessed protests happening in a few places.
The cleric said that if anyone cannot take the responsibilities of a marriage, the person should not tie the knot again. He stated that a Muslim man cannot marry a non-Muslim unless the latter has decided to follow Islam.
While allegations of Love Jihad emerged after Aamir and Gauri’s marriage, Aamir dismissed the claim. He said in a statement that none of his wives have converted, clarifying that Gauri is a Christian and not a practising Christian.
Aamir revealed that his family is inclusive since his sisters are married to Hindus, his daughter tied the knot with a Hindu, and his cousin Mansoor is married to a Christian.
Ever since the cleric’s video went viral, online users reacted by saying that the person was unnecessarily trying to create an issue. They stated that showing respect towards the religion of his wife and not forcing her to convert is a good step taken by Aamir Khan, and that everyone should follow the same.
Aamir’s fans also stepped in to support him, saying that individuals like the one who has issued a fatwa are the reasons why a particular religion has lost its reputation in today’s society. Some even claimed that the cleric was trying to get some attention by using the name of Aamir Khan.
While Aamir has maintained silence on the matter, only time is going to tell if the issue will get settled down by itself or it will take a worse turn in the upcoming days.
