Ajay Devgn has tried almost every genre in his long career. From romances like Ishq to historical dramas like Tanhaji, thriller mysteries like Drishyam and action films like Singham, he has explored wide territory on the big screen. After De De Pyaar De 2, he is stepping into another action role with Sanjay Dutt and Tamannaah Bhatia.
The film, tentatively titled Ranger, is expected to release on December 4, 2026. Sources say it marks Ajay’s full return to hardcore action and places him opposite Sanjay Dutt in a high-intensity face-off for the first time. Tamannaah is said to have a strong and surprising role.
The action–adventure film is reportedly directed by Jagan Shakti of Mission Mangal and produced by Ajay Devgn, Luv Ranjan, Ankur Garg and Anand Pandit. The final title will be decided later, but the team is working toward the same release window.
Rumours say the makers picked the first weekend of December because it has delivered strong results in recent years. Animal released in early December 2023, followed by Pushpa in 2024. The 2025 slot now belongs to Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, which already has massive hype.
Ajay’s last action film, Singham Again, disappointed fans despite becoming the top earner in the cop universe. His audience has low expectations from future cop–universe films. De De Pyaar De 2 has also not performed well, adding to the concern.
Fans now hope Ajay and the makers are not depending only on “December first weekend luck.” They want solid effort, strong writing and fresh action instead of relying on timing alone.
