He also said that creative changes significantly affected the final outcome.

During a conversation with comedian Kunal Kamra, Anurag explained why he chose not to defend the film publicly after its release.

He said he did not feel comfortable supporting a version that no longer represented his original vision.

According to him, the criticism directed at the film was understandable because the released version was different from the one he had created.

Anurag Kashyap said that while much of the film’s visual storytelling remained his work, changes made during the editing process altered its perspective.

He explained that removing certain elements affected the tone and message of the film, changing the way audiences interpreted the story.

Discussing Bandar further, he said viewers who understood the intention behind the film could recognise the perspective he wanted to present.

However, he felt that changes made to the final version impacted how the story reached audiences.

Anurag’s comments have once again sparked discussions around creative control, director’s cuts and the challenges filmmakers face when their original vision clashes with production decisions.
