Batwara 1947 has finally completed its censor formalities. The movie is scheduled to arrive on August 14, 2026, and the CBFC has now issued an Adults Only certificate to the film.

The last film of Sunny Deol to get a similar rating was Chup: Revenge of the Artist, which was released in 2022. The makers of Batwara 1947 received the certificate on July 23, 2026, and it is going to have a runtime of 145.34 minutes, which means 2 hours, 25 minutes, and 34 seconds.

Reports have stated that the movie was passed without any cuts. While the CBFC’s decision hints that things might be a little intense, it has raised a lot of questions about what can be so mature that it cannot be watched by children.

The teaser shows a lot of action. Netizens believe that the action could be violent, for which the A certificate has been issued. Some others said that the main theme of a Muslim family migrating from Lucknow to Lahore and forming a close bond with an old Hindu matriarch might be too mature to be understood by the kids.

However, Sunny Deol’s fans expressed their dissatisfaction, saying that he makes action entertainers that can be watched by the family. They even questioned the situation of other films, such as Kesari (2019), that managed to receive a U/A despite extreme violence in the second half.

A few fans are still happy, saying that the A certificate has helped to pull audiences in certain situations and Batwara 1947 might get some good results in the end. With only a few more days left for release, let’s see if the A certificate will help Sunny Deol to create records at the box office.
