Can SRK Repeat Magic of Ranbir, Allu Arjun & Ranveer?

SRK King December release buzz

As per recent media reports, Shah Rukh Khan’s much anticipated King is tentatively scheduled for a December 4, 2026, release. Trade analysts are closely watching whether the film is targeting the lucrative December first-week window.

This period has emerged as a golden slot for mass-action entertainers. Over the last two to three years, the December opening week has consistently delivered massive box office successes.

In 2023, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, dominated the box office. The film earned around Rs 556 crore net in India and crossed Rs 900 crore worldwide, becoming an all-time blockbuster despite polarising reviews.

The trend continued in 2024 with Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun. Released on December 5, 2024, the film shattered records and closed its run at approximately Rs 1,780 crore worldwide.

In 2025, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, which also released on December 5, maintained the momentum. Even in its third week, the film continued its strong run and is expected to cross the Rs 600 crore mark.

With King now eyeing the same window, the big question is whether it can sustain the momentum set by these recent blockbusters. The December first week benefits from year-end holidays, festive mood, and limited early-month competition.

This combination allows large-scale action films to dominate theatres across single screens and multiplexes. Trade experts believe this has played a major role in the recent December dominance.

Shah Rukh Khan has a proven track record of delivering hits regardless of release dates. However, analysts are keen to see if the makers of King will fully leverage this strategic window.

That said, challenges remain. Potential clashes with Hollywood tentpoles or other Bollywood releases planned for December 2026 could impact screen availability.

Still, if positioned smartly, King could deliver an explosive box office performance. Trade circles believe the film has the potential to cross the Rs 1000 crore mark worldwide.
