Ramayana has opened in the theatres worldwide today and the reception for Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Prabhu Sri Ram has been rather mixed. Section is rating him as an right fit for this legendary and iconic role, but the rest feel he was underwhelming.
The most important part about playing Ram on screen is the perfect balance between ferocity and charismatic persona.
On paper, it can be said that Ranbir Kapoor is one of the few optimal fits for such a strong character in Indian cinema. But it turns out to be that the early reaction for his performance have not been outright positive.
On the other hand, Mahesh Babu is another suitable contender in terms of physical attributes to play this mythological epic character. But it will all come down to the execution side of things.
Not a single aspect of Ranbir from Ramayana, including the physical appearance or the performance on the screen matched what was expected of him. Now fans will be hoping that this will not be the case with Mahesh Babu.
One crucial point of difference here is going to be the most decisive factor and it is none other than the director of the film Rajamouli himself. He will have a perfect metre on how to present Mahesh as Ram on screen and if that parameter can be executed, there’s no looking back from here.
