Chand Mera Dil Public Talk: Chemistry Sizzles, Film Fizzles?

Chand Mera Dil review

The reviews for Ananya Panday and Lakshya’s film Chand Mera Dil are out and they are not very encouraging. Even though the film features a fresh young pairing, the promos and songs failed to attract the audience. The film had a low pre-release buzz, which indicates that people are just not interested in watching another romantic drama.

Reputed media sites have written mixed to negative things about the film. According to those sites, the movie stays on screen for too long and feels heavily dragged in the first half. They also mentioned that the makers tried to force a realistic romance but got trapped in typical glossy sets until the novelty wore thin. Moreover, they called the treatment flat and said that the characters use overly heavy Urdu dialogue that feels unnatural instead of talking properly.

Most online reviewers feel the story is a bit confused and cannot decide whether to be a modern Gen-Z romance or an old-fashioned drama. According to them, the film tries too hard to be emotional after shifting from a Hyderabad college romance to harsh adult realities, but it never fully succeeds.

There are some reviewers who called the film tolerable in parts and praised the genuine chemistry between Lakshya and Ananya Panday. However, most of the positive reviews come from those who were involved in the paid promotional campaign, as they called the buzz of the film massive before release. Now, they all are silent.

The addition of eight extra scenes right before release makes the film boring and slows down the pacing considerably. The music of the film by Sachin-Jigar is getting some praise, but even a decent soundtrack cannot save this unevenly written film alone.

Overall, the reception for Chand Mera Dil is mixed to negative, so trade experts believe it might not do well at the box office unless there is some outside push by the makers. The makers reduced ticket prices from the very first day, but it seems like people are just not interested.
