Comedian Pavitra Shetty appeared on the show Madhur Model, hosted by Madhru Virli, along with Urooj Ashfaq. During the episode, Pavitra made remarks described as insider gossip about Bollywood relationships.
She claimed that Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone are in an open marriage. She alleged that both partners engage in relationships outside marriage. Pavitra clarified that these were speculations and not confirmed facts.
The comedian further claimed that Deepika Padukone allegedly had a brief affair with her ex, Ranbir Kapoor, shortly before announcing her pregnancy in 2024. She added that Ranveer was reportedly comfortable with Deepika seeing others but objected when it involved Ranbir.
The remarks did not stop there. Pavitra extended similar allegations to Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, claiming their relationship was also “open” from Ranbir’s side. She further made highly controversial claims about private parties, which sparked immediate outrage.
The clip went viral and received strong backlash online. Many fans called the statements defamatory and invasive. Several users demanded that Deepika, Ranveer, Alia, and Ranbir pursue legal action against the comedian and the show’s panel.
Social media users compared the situation to a recent controversy involving Allu Arjun. Brand strategist Kaveri Baruah had earlier made claims about strict rules surrounding Allu Arjun during a podcast.
Allu Arjun’s team denied those claims and announced plans to file a defamation case. Following this, Kaveri issued a public apology and the podcast episode was taken down. This incident is now being cited as an example of swift response.
Many Bollywood fans are urging Ranveer and Deepika’s teams to take similar action. While some dismiss the episode as comedy, others stress the fine line between humour and harmful rumours. The debate continues over where free speech ends and reputational damage begins.
